Guardians of the Galaxy / What a fun movie, this movie is almost as good as the original, something that can rarely be said for sequels. With a great cast and even better score, this return to adventure still has everything that made the first film so good. The effects are are pretty good, along with the music, acting and directing. There are some really cool shots and action scenes, including one of my favourite opening scenes of all time. From the get go this movie let's us know that it will be just as funny and action packed as the first, although perhaps not as charming. This film is almost exactly like the first, it doesn't bring a lot of new things to the table. Either way I am still a fan of this film. I give Guardians of the Galaxy a 8.5/10 - - - #cinema #moviereviews #film #movies #movie #moviereview #filmmaking #filmreview #filmreviews #filmreviews #moviereview #filmmaking #filmreview #moviereviews #film #movies #cinema #movie

We just saw Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water at @goldcoastartscenter - probably the best theatre to watch it in! Incredibly shot, it has the familiar feel of a fairytale with a mixture of a European take on an American Cold War-era espionage thriller. Sound weird? It’s definitely that, in a beautiful way. We can’t recommend it enough! (Psst, sit in the middle of the theatre to feel like you’re actually in the film!) 🧜‍♂️🛁🎵. . . . . #theshapeofwater #guillermodeltoro #goldcoastartscentre #goldcoast #whattodogoldcoast #film #review #goldcoastactivities #movie #movienight #date #datenight #borisandlola #borisandloladventures #filmreview #moviereview #dougjones #fairytale #gc #australia #queensland #theatre #queensland #australia #fairytale #whattodogoldcoast #film #theshapeofwater #movie #review #movienight #goldcoastactivities #gc #borisandlola #moviereview #filmreview #date #datenight #guillermodeltoro #borisandloladventures #theatre #goldcoast #goldcoastartscentre #dougjones

18. Baby Driver. Edgar Wright created this clever action film that uses a good amount of music that really plays along within the story about a young getaway driver named Baby who has tinnitus, which he blocks out by listening music on his iPod. With great action sequences that’s very well stylized truly capture Wright’s that takes us on a thrilling ride with a tons of killer tracks to drive through. #babydriver @babydrivermovie #edgarwright #actionmovies #top50 #bestfilmsof2017 #movies #film #filmreview #moviereview #art #drawing #illustration #movieart #filmart #traditionalart #traditionalillustration #copic #copicmarkers #artistoninstagram #art #top50 #drawing #film #copicmarkers #actionmovies #bestfilmsof2017 #edgarwright #babydriver #illustration #moviereview #artistoninstagram #filmreview #movieart #traditionalart #filmart #traditionalillustration #movies #copic

So, Lights Out is a 2016 Drama, Horror, directed by: David F. Sandberg and stars: Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman, Alexander Dipersia, Billy Burke and Maria Bello. When a daughter takes issue with her mother's mental health, she takes her younger brother under her care only to find out that her mother's hallucinations of a dangerous woman that can only move in the dark are real. So rare that a unique and original horror are released and this was a good one. The original idea and creature had me sold. Such an interesting concept that plays with one of the eldest fears. What's in the dark? Maria Bello was so great as the troubled mother. So believable and sympathetic. So rare that child actors match their performance skills with fellow actors, but Gabriel Bateman was fantastic. Although the film had an interesting concept, the film would break it's mythology with occurrences happening in the light. Teresa Palmer was at times just odd in some moments. And as the film builds more of a family drama with actual characters in the first two acts, the last act gets a bit cliché. In the end, this was such a cool concept and original idea and that is something audiences aren't treated enough to in Horror films. I'll give Lights Out a B- #LightsOutMovie #teresapalmer #mariabello #davidfsandberg #horror #drama #director #actor #actress #cinema #movie #movies #moviereview #film #films #filmreview #tv #tvreview #review #reviews #teresapalmer #tvreview #drama #horror #reviews #mariabello #film #films #review #tv #movie #actor #moviereview #filmreview #actress #lightsoutmovie #director #movies #cinema #davidfsandberg

I've long been a sucker for a quirky indie rom-com (although the com part is the least essential for me) so having heard lots of good things about The Big Sick and being a fan of Kumail Nanjiani in Silicon Valley and Franklin & Bash I wanted to give it a watch. Following yesterday's announcement of the film's Best Original Screenplay Oscar nod it seemed timely to sit down with the wife, put it on and chalk up film 6 of #Mikes52FilmChallenge What I'll start by saying is that I think the Academy Award nomination is totally justified. I think the was great, the dialogue felt natural yet tight and not as rambling as perhaps some of the other films under the Judd Apatow production banner. You could tell that it was based on true events as it had real heart to it, especially reflected in Nanjiani's performance. I also really liked the performances of Holly Hunter and Ray Romano as Emily's parents. I was never a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond but I like some of the roles Romano has taken of late such as this and in the sadly cancelled Vinyl. What was also nice about this compared to some of the other Apatow indie comedy type films was that the humour felt very natural, like the way that life is generally funny even in serious situations. Overall I thought it was a good film, one that I enjoyed and made me laugh, but didn't connect with me as much as some similar films have. A decent 7/10 #film #filmreview #cinema #movies #moviereview #kumailnanjiani #thebigsick #juddapatow #romcom #rayromano #hollyhunter #thebigsick #juddapatow #hollyhunter #moviereview #mikes52filmchallenge #filmreview #romcom #film #movies #kumailnanjiani #cinema #rayromano

Robocop (1987) After being viciously shot to pieces in the line of duty officer Alex Murphy is transformed into a cyborg lawman. He then goes on the trail of the scumbags who killed him across a bleak, not too distant future Detroit. It's brimming with bad language and still shocking grisly violence, features a great performance from Peter Weller as the l man of the law, some hilarious 80s 'future' fashion and that great theme music. A modern sci-fi great, no amount of dodgy sequels or redundant remakes can tarnish it. #watched #film #movie #cinema #movienight #instafilm #instamovies #bluray #bluraycollection #instadaily #instagood #filmcommunity #filmbuff #movielover #filmgeek #filmcollection #moviereview #filmreview #review #moviereviewetc #robocop #scifi #action #bluraycollection #bluray #filmcollection #instadaily #scifi #watched #filmbuff #film #instagood #instamovies #movie #review #movienight #action #robocop #movielover #moviereview #filmcommunity #filmreview #moviereviewetc #instafilm #filmgeek #cinema

JOHN CARTER [ 2012 ], directed by #AndrewStanton. The only problem I have with this film is that it came out at least 10 years too late. Awesome #CGI and #Mars settings, plus the spirit of the late 19th Century really make this film great, but 2012 was another year of blockbusters and the fact, that it got overshadowed so much, prevents this film from getting any attention at all. Basically, it had nothing new to offer. The movie itself is based on popular book series from the same guy that wrote #Tarzan. The story follows this random cowboy-dude (#TaylorKitsch), who accidentally gets teleported to Mars, a planet that turns out to be full of life, and all those #Martian dwellers begin to think he is a hero of some kind, and all because there is a lower gravity on Mars, which allows him to jump like very high. He is now facing the biggest challenge of his life, where he must save, not only himself but the whole planet's population from an evil tyrant. I gave it a 7/10, but it could easily go up to an 8. The movie itself is really good. It has intresting characters and plot, but lacks in originality. Stuff like this has been done for at least 50 years now, and this movie isn't special or anything. It just doesn't stand out as much as you'd want it to. Anyways, I am kind of upset, it didn't turn into a full-fledged franchise. I do think it actually had a good chance, but it just happens that modern generation perfers more of regular popcorn hits over rare old fashioned adventure tales. #goodfilm #space #adventure #scifi #edgarburroghs #JohnCarterofMars #moviereview #filmreview #cgi #moviereview #filmreview #mars #johncarterofmars #scifi #martian #taylorkitsch #edgarburroghs #adventure #goodfilm #space #andrewstanton #tarzan

I originally posted this review on my Letterboxd (hit me up, username is CineWalrus). But I feel like this movie is so masterful that I need to be share my thoughts here. So I extended the Letterboxd log, and have edited it all nice for you folks. ••• Mulholland Drive is a twisted, mangled heap of characters, s, and storylines that appear to lead nowhere — when really, they’re leading you to perhaps the spookiest place of all: your mind. Or something like that. I don’t really know what any of it means, but that’s what I got out of it. Lynch forces us to go around corners we don’t always want to go around, and somehow, trough each dip or turn in the road, we find something out about ourselves that we didn’t know before. Mulholland Drive is a sweeping, discombobulated epic; a magnificent Magnolia-esque hellscape where dreams are more sane than the harsh reality; where unnerving cowboys come to haunt you at the stroke of midnight; where mysterious blue boxes lead you to creepy-yet-beautiful, atmospheric nightclubs; where men wearing suits carry briefcases from place to place; where every single person in your dream seems to represent you in some shape or form. What’s in the blue box? What does the Cowboy want? What are the men doing? What does the old couple at the end have to do with anything? What is the significance of the Silenco nightclub? Why can’t I get the hobo’s haunting facial expression out of my head? We may never know the answers to these questions. We can guess, theorize, and pull in some evidence from the rest of the film — but can you really trust evidence from something as loose-ended as this; with as many different pathways weaving in and out of our heads? Out of all the interpretations, I believe that Mulholland Drive is not meant to be deciphered — it’s meant to be experienced. Sure, there’s an obvious story of a woman traveling to Hollywood to peruse her dream, falls in love, and after the relationship doesn’t work out, her life descends into complete madness. But is that REALLY what it’s about? The more I think about it, the less I understand it. But at the same time, the less I understand it, the more I understand...⬇️CONT’D⬇️ #davidlynch #mulhollanddrive #moviereview #filmmaking #filmmaker #filmreview #films #filmdirector #filmphotography #film #movies #cinema #movie #cinematography #photography

‘The Shape of Water’ is a beautiful unique love tale, that is delivered with a stellar performance by Sally Hawkins and fantastic direction by Guillermo del Toro. It’s difficult to pinpoint my favourite aspect of this film, because it’s wonderful in almost every way. To start off with, Sally Hawkins Oscar-nominated performance is worthy of all it’s praise as she brings her peculiar, yet likeable character to life effortlessly. Playing a mute character who falls in love with a creature is a fairly difficult task to handle, but Hawkins pulls it off flawlessly, while also being backed up by great performances by Michael Shannon and Michael Stuhlbarg. While I did enjoy Octavia Spencer in this film, I am quite surprised by her Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress as her character was a little too reminiscent of her character in the film ‘The Help’ and was rather stereotypical. Still love her though. Additionally, Doug Jones is obviously unrecognisable in this film as the Amphibian Man, but certainly deserves recognition for his fantastic and heartbreaking performance of the creature. Del Toro’s direction in this film is once again, fantastic. While it certainly wasn’t a surprise that the direction in this film was going to be good, given the critical acclaim it has received as well as the fact that it is Guillermo del Toro, it was obviously reassuring to see how beautiful Del Toro made this film. His direction, accompanied by the gorgeous cinematography by Dan Laustsen, makes this film a visual delight. But what really visually stands out is the creature this film is based around. The costume design and makeup make are outstanding, as the creature is so intriguing and rather beautiful. It would be something you’d gaze at for hours at an aquarium, and thus it was captivating every time the creature was in a scene. The plot of the film was nothing to complain about, with just enough plot twists and surprises to keep it from being clichéd and a rehash of other monster/romance films. Lastly, the music in this film is worthy of mention; the score by Alexandre Desplat and the selection of 1960’s music mix beautifully into the atmosphere of the film. . . . . . #swapreview #reviewig #mensfashionreview #igreview #swapreviewfree #fashionreview #moviereview #foodreview #natureview #makeupreview #review #productreviews #reviewthailand #minireview #promotion #productreview #reviews #bookreviews #kidsfashionreview #preview #menfashionreview #bookreview #malereviews #blog #womensfashionreview #restaurantreview #freeswapreview #beautyreview #filmreview #igreview #kidsfashionreview #minireview #preview #malereviews #makeupreview #fashionreview #reviews #bookreviews #bookreview #reviewthailand #mensfashionreview #productreviews #review #blog #menfashionreview #freeswapreview #productreview #moviereview #swapreview #filmreview #reviewig #natureview #womensfashionreview #promotion #foodreview #swapreviewfree #restaurantreview #beautyreview
